Don’t forget a few bars for an ending.
Teen Picker's Online Collaboration
It doesn’t have to be, but it can if you want. And I have a mandolin solo I can add if necessary
I was pretty mentally out of it by the time I got to the end so I just stopped. @Michael_Mark is just gonna have to ignore where the guitar stops and play his ending. Then we’ll recut the backup to fit it
Hey everyone! Sorry I’ve been really inactive on the forum recently and just saw this today. I’ll be happy to help, if it ain’t too late
It ain’t too late! A bit early actually…
I would love to play banjo on both! I actually already know Ben’s SC solo. With some work, I could finish learning FMB as well. I also play guitar, but beginner as far as flatpicking goes. I mostly just play chords. @Dragonslayer, you had said you had an easy gtr solo. Was that for SC or FMB? Depending on how easy, I could probably learn it. I am not that good, but it would be so much fun to be a part of if we could make this work!
Instead of reading all 86 posts, it would be easier for me if someone could give me a real short report of where we are.
Everyone has decided what instruments and how many breaks on each song, and Gunnar @Dragonslayer said he was going to make the backing track. I don’t know if Gunnar and @Michael_Mark are still waiting to record at Cabin Camp.
I have a basic melody solo for SC, and a more involved solo for FMB, if you want I’ll make an instructional video for SC, and can for FMB if you want.
My current recording abilities are video only because I’m traveling, but I did record the FMB scratch track already, I just haven’t uploaded it yet, I’ll do it in the next couple of days
I’m gonna have to because I’m away from my recording equipment
Hey Gunnar! If you could make the videos, that would be great! I will give it a shot. I learn better with tab, but it will be good for me to try a different way. No worries though, if it is too much trouble!
Yeah, it’d probably be easier for me to do it at camp.
I have a fairly simple guitar version of FMB and I can send you the tab (I think) if you’d like.
On second thought, that might be the version Trevlyn is playing so maybe Gunnar’s would be better. I can still send you the tab if you’d like.
Hey Kevin! Sure! If you wouldn’t mind sending it, that would be great! Thanks!
Ok I finally got this scratch track up, keep in mind that it’s just for keeping time, so you’ll still need to play rhythm over it also, and feel free to use the Emajor…

If someone else could record the scratch track for SC that would be convenient cuz I can’t right now.
Also I’m uploading a tutorial for SC on guitar right now, and I’ll link it here as soon as it finishes uploading
Ok here’s a melody solo for Salt Creek
Nice tutorial Gunnar! Is anyone gonna play the cross-eyed Banjo Ben super advanced guitar solo?
I can’t tell y’all how much I’ve enjoyed reading through this thread. As someone who was never involved in music my entire life (well at least the for 48 years) I’ve never had conversations like what I’m reading. Makes me want to get a time machine and tell young me “Hey, quit working on free throws and running stadiums. Grab a mandolin and get over to the jam to learn Salt Creek!”
Thanks y’all for sharing all of this!
Thanks for the scratch track Gunnar, Now I have to seriously train my right hand to play that fast…
