It’s National Guitar Day. So I guess that means… umm play guitar maybe? Or maybe buy a new one. I’m not sure.
I do have a question for guitar owners tho: what guitar(s) do you have, and if you could pick out a new one for free what would it be?
Guess What? It’s National Guitar Day!
2019 Eastman E6D
1997 Fender Strat Plus Deluxe
2004 MIM Fender Telecaster
‘80s Ovation Celebrity Elite that my dad played in high school
‘30s Martin herringbone
Your understanding of ‘new’ must be a little different than mine
Well, 90 years old… that’s basically new.
It’s new to him
It’s National Guitar Day? I guess I better get busy. My inventory/collection right now:
Martin D-18 1976
Martin D-28 1964 (bought new by me while in colleg e, neck reset by Martin years ago)
Martin HD-28V 2000
Bourgeois Slope d?Short Scale 2012
Collings D2H
Santa Cruz D-Tony Rice 1997
Larrivee D-60
Recording King RO-28
Leho LHG-D14R (Chinese-built dread built under Larrivee supervision)
Guild F-412
Epiphone Bard 1964
Taylor NS32-CE (Nylon classical)
For free? Send me a Martin D-18 from the late 1930’s
WOW! Quite the collection.
What a great day!!! I will be recording some songs today, so I guess that’s my way of celebrating National Guitar Day!
I play a Fender FA-125CE acoustic guitar.
I’d love an Eastman E20D (really anything Eastman is really good, or so I’ve heard).
That is a lot of guitars!! Do you have a favorite?
I rarely touch the Taylor classical. The Epiphone 12-string sits silent because the Guild F-412 is so much better. Of the rest, my favorite is the one that’s in my hands at the moment, an abundance of goodness. The Recording King is so comfortable to play, but I do love the dreads. The Leho is rosewood/spruce, only set me back $500, and sounds as good as the others, so I can take it out somewhere and not obsess about damage. It’s a little like asking which of my kids I like the best. I’m still waiting to see who is going to give me the free 1930’s D-18. Just to show that I’m not unreasonable, I’d settle for a 1930’s herringbone D-28.
So picky! I’d settle for a '40s.
I have a Paul Reed Smith P-20. I’d love a Martin D-28 or its equivalent.
We all should have convinced @BanjoBen to give all the guitarists a free guitar for National Guitar Day!
An American made one of course. Like Santa Cruz…
Absolutely!!
I probably have the cheapest guitar - Fender CD-140SCE.
I had a Takamine and another one but given it away as gifts.
From whatever I hear from forum folks, I’d go with Martin D-28 or similar for a new free one.
Wow what a collection! I do think you need to consider adding a Gallagher to the mix
2021 Martin D-13e (the solid version with Siris back and sides)
2023 Guild D-140
2024 Yamaha FG5
The Yamaha is brand spanking new. I just bought it at the end of December, and it instantly became my favorite.
I haven’t played a ton of guitars, so the freebie is a tough call. But just based on what I have heard over time on the internet, I have never heard a Collings that I didn’t like. So, I’d say a D1, perhaps. But I think my IT guitar would ultimately be an American made Guild D-40.
Larrivee OMV-05
Larrivee OM-03
Larrivee Parlor
Larrivee Baker T Classic Telecaster
G&L ASAT Telecaster
Fender Custom Shop '52 Telecaster
Thompson D-MA shadetop
Santa Cruz Tony Rice 1988 (Indian)
Yamaha FG-110 red label
Martin D-28 1943
Martin D-18 1967
Mervyn Davis Smoothtalker
I would really like to have a 30’s D-18 Martin. Will have to trade some of the other stuff, though.
1968 Martin D-28
2018 Martin Sinker D-18
2024 Randy Wood D-18 style
A cheap Sierra acoustic guitar I teach on
Either a 30’s D-18, or that blackwood Robertson Jed Clark didn’t pick!
2021 Martin D-18 (mine that my wife bought and she finally said it was mine after much use)
These are my wifes but I will play her Martin every once in a while since she likes electric more:
2004 Martin HD-28 (her dream acoustic)
2023 Fender Strat
2017 Fender Les Paul
I don’t play guitar too much so I guess I’m happy with my guitar (it sounds as good as any other guitar in my hands) but when national mandolin day comes around I do have a few “dream” mandolins to list!
