Easter Song

@Grace

Sorry… I screwed up… It should be Emin as you sing the 3rd… Which is a G note when you sing the word, “ALL”

I got confused because I was also considering the key of C.

In the case of the key of G, an E minor chord is the 6th chord… Which is naturally minor (E G B)

Gotch ya. I’ll try to work on it more this afternoon. I have class 12-2:40, so I’ll try to work on it more after.

What year are you in @Grace?

On break for a few minutes.
Ok, so technically I am in 10th grade, home schooled all the way from baby hood, but I am also currently doing duel enrollment at a small local college.

Wow - Good for you… a smart one, you are! I KNEW it. :+1:

Hats off :tophat::womans_hat: - to your parents for homeschooling you. Hats off :tophat::womans_hat: - to you for being an over-achiever and for your impressive musical talents.

My son is in 11th Grade and goes to the International Academy… which has an International Bacceloriate High School diploma. That said, he is also home-schooled (no Choice) with all the other Michigan Children for the rest of this year!

Your praise is too high… I do my best, musically and in education, but I am no genius…
Thank you though.

I am sorry @Grace and @Michael_Mark.

I am not feeling so well this evening… to try to lay down a rhythm.

I did learn the melody line I wrote on by Mandolin.

Perhaps, I can pluck out the melody and record it tomorrow for you @Grace.

As I played it today, it seemed to be more like 2 measured per change… Like you played it in your demo, I think.

Did you try the e-minor chord?

I did try the e-minor, I think it works. I am STILL trying to get the 3/4 strum pattern down though…:expressionless: I’m struggling to sing the words while keeping the 3/4 strum. I’ve been recording myself singing the melody “1, 2, 3,” in place of the words, then singing the words with the recording. I think that might help me fit the words to the timing better.

Sincerely, I like the feel of what you did in 4/4. I like the rhythm of it more and more now.

Still, it is good for you to stretch your attempts to try it in 3. We can always decide later… and build in your comfort with the singing.

I will try to give you some ideas if I feel better tomorrow…

Thank you for your efforts to work on our song, @Grace.

Before I go, did you try to understand the notes I annotated for the melody? I know it was quick and not well-done… so if not, don’t be concerned about it.

Perhaps there is a way that I can try to make a TEF of it? I am not sure. I only have used the free version many months ago.

Do you read standard notation or only TAB? Would that be useful to learn my ideas?

I’m going to recall a part of my statement. “The King is risen, long dead death!”

Is this what you’re referring to? I haven’t tried it yet.
I can read ST and tab, so either would work.
I’ll keep working on the 3/4.
Hope you get to feelin’ better WillCoop.

Hi @grace,

I expect you are in studies at this hour.

I am trying to plunk out the melody line…

So here is the melody and I added some extra notes just to mark the 3 time - hoping you can hear and feel the 3-count more than if I only played melody without the extra beats.

I hope you like it and it falls within your range.

This is only 2 versus… And forget about the “ending” as it was just tacked on as something silly to end it. :joy::joy::joy:

Hi @Michael_Mark,

Is that the kind of feel and tempo you had in mind… more or less?

This sound right?

That IS really, REALLY GREAT!

:facepunch::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap:

I liked the triplets too… on the “Jesus met” part!

So… how does it feel in 3?

It has much more life in 4/4… but the pace is more like a hymn in 3, I think.

Going back to your last demo…

The way your voice put infection on “to re- deem us all” and when you sang "when death would “die” …

I really like the quality of your voice on the way you sang those syllables…

It was like a blues-type feel I like that I’d hate to lose.
