What are y'all up to?

It’s a blend of bluegrass and jazz, first popularized by guys like David Grisman and Tony Rice in the 1970s. Sometimes it’s called “dawg music,” “spacegrass” or “new acoustic music”. Check out the self-titled David Grisman Quintet album if you get a chance!

I love Pat Flynn’s guitar playing.

If you haven’t listened to New Grass Revival, check out some of their recorded material from 1981 onward which features Pat Flynn and Bela Fleck! They have been my favorite “bluegrass” band for a while, and I meet a lot of folks who have never listened to them.

@Michael_Mark I haven’t listened to this interview in a while but I remember it being interesting. This channel is also interviews Bryan Sutton, Trey Hensley, and several other acoustic players

Found it on Facebook Marketplace, a guy was selling it just south of Atlanta. The price was good and it came with one of the upgraded Martin cases.

Charlie Belle is tanning her first animal hide and we’re having lots of fun. I’ll post some pics here after the process is done. The hide is from a coyote and it’s currently in the pickling solution. We built a hide stretching frame yesterday and should be pretty close to done with the tanning process in a couple days. This is the test process for her, then she has 3 deer skins and a possum in the freezer :joy:

When is she going to make Crockett a coon skin cap?

We’ve got some traps ready for a few coons that are terrorizing a hog feeder, so it won’t be long!

I have always loved “I’m down.” This song and that section is so insane it makes me laugh. Well done!

Well, I’ve been busy over the past two days. I had to go out to Omaha for some testing on Monday. Then, I had a looooooooong morning on Tuesday with medical exams (most of the time was waiting, though). It turned out to be not too bad, because, around noon, I was sworn into the US Air Force! Lord willing, shipping out for basic training sometime in July!

Headed to Dallas Love airport this morning, outbound for St. Pete, Florida for the first Cabin Camp of 2025! I’m always excited for this weekend for many reasons–hard to believe this is the 5th time in St. Pete!

Hello Everyone,

Lord willing Jodi (my wife) and I will be going on our second Filter of Hope trip. This time to Guatemala. We are asking you to partner with us to help distribute life saving water filters and most importantly the Gospel of Jesus, who is the Living Water. This can be through prayer and donation. Filter of Hope is an organization that believes no one should have to live without clean water and everyone deserves the opportunity to know Jesus personally.
Thousands of children die every week because they drink contaminated water, and over 4 billion people currently face eternity separated from God. Together we can help change this.
The filter is about the size of my fist and is designed with the same technology used for kidney dialysis. The filter traps any contaminant larger than 1 micron. The smallest bacteria is 2 microns. The result is the water is 99.9% pure. Each filter will deliver up to 200 gallons of purified water per day. Using a common bucket with a hole near the bottom a small hose and the filter is attached and the water is dispensed by gravity. This allows anyone to use it without electricity or gas which would be required to boil the water. With proper back-flushing the filter it will last up to 10 years.
If providing clean water to help save lives wasn’t enough, after presenting the family with the free water filter, we also have the opportunity to give them the free gift of the Gospel. The good news of Jesus Christ the living savior. We are excited to be a part of the body of Christ and do what we are led to do. We hope you’re able to partner with us in prayer and if you’re able to help with the funding. A donation of $40 will cover the cost of one filter and any donation of any size will help defer the cost of the trip.
Our trip is scheduled for May 17-23. If you want to know more, you can contact me directly on this forum. Go to your account and to message. Send a message to Tim_C
Thank you very much for your prayers and support. We can’t do this alone.

I just wanted to say thank you again @BanjoBen, Katy, Penny, the Feasters, and the BB team for another amazing St Pete Camp! I always leave camp more excited and motivated to continue learning how to be a better picker. This year was even more special because my friend Alayna (guitar player) was able to attend with me. We both look forward using what we learned from camp to make us better musicians together. Hope y’all enjoy the video
