Have fun! I’ve been working on my Galax tune today.
What are y'all up to?
I’m trying to learn this Adam Steffey solo, it’s so good!!
Yeah, I love that run at the end!! I started working on it yesterday evening so I figured out all the notes but can’t play it anywhere close to speed yet… I’m hoping I’ll be able to eventually!
The phrase with the three slides up (about 1:16) sets it up to where it’s like a question and an unexpected answer. I hope that makes sense. Talking about music is sometimes like dancing about architecture.
When you live in an area where there are no music jams to attend, one creates their own. Neighbor gal lives down the road from my wife and I, discovered about a year ago her enjoyment of music was about on par with ours. We were all learning to make music on our own, Sam could play some guitar, I could pick banjo some, and my wife was pretty decent at keeping us somewhat in time, and we so needed someone who could carry a tune. We played around some on a few tunes, starting with “Jimmy Brown The News Boy”, on that first day, had fun at what we were doing, then decided to start practicing together every week. We mix our tunes up, country, bluegrass, folk, gospel etc. My wife had written a children’s book years ago inspired by the Sandy Hook Promise, and our neighbor wrote this song. This is the first time we recorded a video on the fly, first take and all boo boo’s included.
That was nice and what inspiration. I think your neighbor has a fantastic voice. Thanks for sharing.
Me & Crockett on top of the world in Glacier National Park
Looks like a lot of fun! It reminds me of this game. My Grandparents just bought it and it is a lot of fun!
Crockett looks quite happy!
@Flatpickin_Libby I really enjoyed watching Headin Home on Live at Lorraine’s tonight.
Great job! Your guitar playing is fantastic!
Link to Facebook (might need Facebook account).
Thanks so much!! Thanks for watching
Thanks for posting that @Bhive. I am enjoying getting to see this. I liked Rusty Old Camper… great starter!
Thanks for watching guys! It’s also on Vimeo if you can’t view the Facebook link.
I’m only “Knee Deep” so far, and still watching. You guys are definitely getting better and better and really polishing up your act. Nice job!
I love how after the banjo lick at 28:58 you can see mom smile and nod with approval.
Great job by all!!!
So sorry to hear this.
Keep your head up. If ya need anything don’t hesitate to ask.
I’ve not been picking. I’ve been busy over the past month. Currently in West Point NY in an Airbnb on the Hudson. Came up for my son’s basic training graduation.
We sold our place S of Nash and moved ourselves 30 days ago. I’d be banging on the guitar if I wasn’t banging 500-700 balls on the range almost daily…going to try and win me a Senior State (TN) Championship over the next few years.
Heading to Florida as soon as we leave NY in 4 days. After I get back from there it’s going to be like living on Big Rock Candy Mountain…golf balls and blistered fretting fingers…I’m coming!
What little music I have been playing (working on Grateful Dead’s “Momma Tried”) has seen me making amazing progress. My ears and hands are now almost “one”. Can pick out solos really quickly now. Once I sure up my CAGED system over the next month or so?..lookout!
@Archie - Some of your little tidbits have helped me out over the past 3-6 months. I worked diligently on recognizing if we were going up or down in pitch…didn’t take long to nail it! Thanks!
Great news to share. My youngest granddaughter just received her Scottish Higher exam results. Straight A’s and she will be heading to Strathclyde University Glasgow in the fall to study at the Strathclyde Institute of Pharmacy & Biomedical Sciences (SIPBS) Undergraduate Course in medical research. Aged 16 with an IQ of 100+. I can’t get over it. It only seems like yesterday I was changing her diapers . Kids grow up so fast these days.
She is also an accomplished trombone player and percussionist with her local brass band who are competing in The National Brass Band Championships at Cheltenham in Gloucestershire, England in September.
One Very Proud Grandad
