My sister came up with a way to memorize the strings on the guitar. I will never forget the names of the strings.

“Eddy Ate Dynamite. ‘Good Bye, Eddy.’”:flushed:

I don’t think she came up with it, I’ve heard it before. It’s a good one though

It’s completely possible that multiple people have come up with that without hearing it from each other though

Wow! I didn’t realize my sister already told everyone else. O, that’s not what you meant.:joy:

I can understand how others have come up with it. After one person says it, everyone remembers it. She told me it on Friday, and I’ve not been able to forget it.

I have an easy way to remember it, too. You start with an E at 82.41 Hz on the lowest string, also called the 6th string, then tune the 5th, 4th, and 3rd strings to a perfect 4th interval above the previous. Then, tune the 2nd string a major third interval above the 3rd, and finally return to the perfect 4th for the first string.

It seems wordy but not when you use the acronym: YSWAEA82.41HOTHLSACT6STTT54A3STOAP4IATPTTT2SAMTIAT3AFRTTP4FTFS.

That is possibly the easiest way to remember the names of the strings. I read it once and immediately knew EADGBE were the names of each string in the correct order.:rofl::rofl::rofl:

I showed my sister what everyone has said about “her idea.” She then in formed me that she came up with the idea to memorize the string names, she then said she searched up how to memorize it, and found that online.:roll_eyes::rofl::roll_eyes:

We know, @Zachary! Here you go… https://www.theguitarlesson.com/guitar-lesson-blog/beginner-guitar-lessons/guitar-string-mnemonic-acronyms/ but then it’s a variation of Eddy with an ‘ie’! :joy:

I use this “Eat All Day; Goto Bed Early” that I picked up somewhere.

Why are guitar strings labeled in ALL CAPS?
Are they angry?

It’s because the geetar doesn’t have a tiny g string. gif

Yeah and that’s a good thing… pull offs would be a bit embarrassing.

That’s probably the exact website too!:rofl:

@JohnM, I love yours. I could use it as my life motto.

That is scientifically disproven. Ears are made of cartilage and that is why they never stop growing. :slightly_smiling_face:
I can eat as much as I want and don’t have to worry about big ears.:slightly_smiling_face:

P.S. Your nose also never stops growing.
