Twanger pickers unite!
Wow! Talk about starting out on the right foot! Congratulations on choosing such a great instrument to learn on. The great thing about buying from the General Store is that the guys there make sure it’s set up right before shipping it out. You don’t get that service from a lot of places.
Welcome to the board!
Before my time learning to play music and listening to acoustic string music, I spent a lot of time listening to Jimmy Buffett and his great story songs. I was trying to figure out a way to mention his passing here but really couldn’t come up with anything other than his partnership with Mac McAnally. I knew when Buffett was a young Nashville songwriter he also wrote stories for Billboard Magazine. I guess this bit of trivia is his tie to my current musical tastes:
sad Adam Neely noises
I admit I had to look up who that is.
Welcome and Howdy! I too am a fellow ob-3 picker, what are your thoughts on it? Is it the only banjo you’ve played or have you been playing a high quality banjo already?
I thought I remembered hearing it before.
Hello! I absolutely love it!! However, I don’t have much experience playing other banjos. To be honest anything would have been an upgrade compared to the banjo I had before. it was a cheap open back banjo I found in my grandpa’s basement. It was pretty difficult to play and the second I had a nicer banjo in my hand I was stunned at how much better my playing was. But it was my great grandmas banjo so I loved it for sentimental reasons and I still have it. I waited until I had saved up enough for the twanger because I wanted an instrument I could grow into as a player. I did play a few different banjos at a music store before I bought the OB-3 from Banjo Ben and I just kept coming back to the twanger. Its sound was just so much better than all the other banjos in my price range.
