The Great Escape - Belfast Zoo 2019
That is spooky to me. I hate monkeys, lol. I had an altercation with some capuchin monkeys in Panama one time–I’ll never trust a monkey again.
A friend of mine that was a Special Forces operator did a lot of fighting in Middle East and north Africa. He said the most intense fight he was ever in was with a group of baboons in Africa. They surrounded his personnel carrier and his platoon had to kill them all to escape.
I wonder how they got these chimps back in the cage?
FOOD for sure!
Come on, you can’t leave us hanging like that…
My dad is the same way. Monkeys are one of the few animals that seem to scare him. Mostly because they’ll throw their droppings sometimes…
Chimps can be aggressive and are enormously strong for their size. Gorillas are actually fairly docile and avoid people. Only real encounters where they have been known to become aggressive is when confronted by poachers where they are defending themselves.
Here is a story that ends well.
Gorilla Carries 3-Year-Old Boy to Safety in 1996 Incident - Bing video
Here is a gorilla who loves cats. The gorilla seems to be a very kind creature but, just wondering how it would act if you tried to do harm to her cat?
Here you go:
Yikes. Yeah, I’ve never been very fond of monkeys. Always found them a little freaky.
Reminds me of the chimpanzee who was raised as if he was a human child and then years later mauled and nearly killed a lady. “Travis the Chimp”
“When one tries to rise above nature one is liable to fall below it.” -Sherlock Holmes
This happens all too often with dogs. Most of it never gets reported but the most loveable dogs will turn on their owners if certain conditions arise. I am always weary when owner’s leave their children/babies alone with a dog.
Okay, you officially need to make a “Stories with Banjo Ben” YouTube channel. That was very captivating
He’ll be writing a song about it before long.
I had an encounter with a monkey once in Chennai. They are fascinated with mirrors. They sometimes look at the mirror hanging on the window from outside the house where I stayed. But once it came in and into my room. I was sort of cornered and it scared me. I shooed it away with my hand and it repeated the same with me. Then I saw a pillow nearby and I took it in my hand. Seeing a big object, it ran out!
Here is a monkey ouch video!

Extremely fitting for this topic if you know you know
Thanks for sharing that’s an epic story. Only thing that would have made it better is if you had slapped him with a banjo.
Have quite a few story’s from folks I know needless to say they don’t end well. Also have a few of my own from encounters with other folks dogs. Nothing severe though.
I am a dog person although I no longer own a dog. It’s not the dogs that scare me it’s their owners.
As am I and over 90% of the time it is the owner or passed situations the dog has been through that is to blame. Most of the time with children though its the association that dogs make between puppys and kids that comes into play especially in older dogs. I do believe that a dog can be mentally ill although I don’t think in general it plages a lot of dogs. It may not be blatantly obvious but a responsible owner should notice the signs.
Yeah, chimps don’t make good pets. If people want to be pet owners, best to get a dog or a cat.
This puts me in mind of another situation. A guy would go out and feed wild deer. Took him a while, but eventually they became somewhat tame to where he started giving them names. Was a large buck he became enamored with, due to its tame disposition. Well, as seasons change, you have the emergence of hunting season. Now what do you think happens to a deer during hunt season, who is not afraid of people?
I had a similar experience with an alligator I had trapped. Named him Chomp. Was a pretty sweet feller until he got into late teenage gator years then we hadst a showdown.
What a weird deer he was.
