Tall weeds and rust

Hey guys been listening to tall weeds and rust the Tennessee Bluegrass Band version but I cannot for the life of me figure out that bar chord in the chorus anyone know what that might be or even an easier substitute if there is one?

Hi Shane, welcome to the forum!

The bar chord you’re hearing is a B minor. You can play it like this:

Lots of people don’t like this chord, and it’s easy to see why. Some promote an easier version that doesn’t have a root note in it.

I recommend practicing the full chord. It will take lots of time using it in practice and songs (a well-set up instrument always helps) to improve clarity and comfort when you’re learning bar chords, but it is better to practice with that struggle than to always feel like you have to avoid bar chords. You can always reach out to the friendly folks here with photo or video of your hand position if you have any questions about making the chord!
