Just signed up for guitar in St Pete. Three great songs to work on before the camp; maybe a medley in there somewhere…… or not.

Checked out the three songs. Amazing Grace in 3/4 time pretty straight forward. Wayfaring Stranger in Am with a Bm7thFlat5. I think I’m being punked! Cripple Creek is another classic but I hope we play it a bit slower than the 375 beats per minute Ben uses in his video. Does a metronome even register that speed? Shaping up to be an interesting camp.

You can begin to relax at any moment  We’re gonna have a ball! Yes, I’ll challenge you some but this isn’t an exam of any sort.

Ok. You’ve talked me off the ledge…… but I still see it out of the corner of my eye! Went to the previous St Pete camp and you are right, had a blast. Looking forward to it. Any other campers out there?

I’m a bit surprised that no one has weighed in or commented on the St Pete camp, it’s only a few weeks away. Maybe I’m on the wrong string. Right now it seems as if I’m at a seance…… is anybody out there? Is anyone with you? Can you hear me? Make a sound if you are there!

Banjo camper here! Reading you loud and clear, over. Excited about the opportunity to learn, jam, and meet @BanjoBen and his team.

@lone_wolf. I’m chipping away at the song list but based upon input to the St Pete Cabin Camp category, it may be just the two of us. Of course there is Ben and his team and the hosts who are wonderful people, I attended last year and had a great time.

So far, I can find only one problem with the St Pete Cabin Camp. The nearest Whataburger is 200 miles away and @banjobenclark may have withdrawals. Wonder if they have long distance delivery for medical emergencies?

@MarkofCourse I’m planning on spend Feb working on the advanced Amazing grace and cementing down the songs chord progressions. This will be my first camp and I’m very excited. I’m sure more folks are coming just not forum members. Looking forward to the jam.

I live in St Pete a few blocks from the hosts and am good friends with them. They say it is pretty full so I have no doubt we will have plenty of company. My mindless banter on this thread is more to try and generate some conversation and pre-jam bonding. Oh well……

If the weather is good I’m flying myself down in my plane, and I’m pretty sure I’ll be passing over a few Whataburgers on the way, lol.

Looks like you already got it sewn up @BanjoBen :small_airplane:

This plane’s perfect for you, @BanjoBen! Now, let’s talk about the price…

You had to bring that up…well it was fun while it lasted…

It’s always the price tag, I tell ya!

Looking forward to camp. My first as a new mondo player. Working in my tempo. I still have pretty slow fingers.

Welcome to the forum Ann / @satbus90 !
You’ll love Camp, it’s an awesome experience! Don’t be worried about having “slow fingers,” Camp is an intimidation free learning zone. I’d say to read on the other camps forum threads regarding camp experiences - you’ll see a bunch of excellent writeups from folks that’ve attended a camp or two.

Hope to see you around here often… The folks here are a great bunch of people; much knowledge, and willing to share that knowledge, & encouraging - so don’t be a stranger!

Thanks for the welcome @Simone!
I’m looking over the packing list. I’m assuming Capo and Banjo mute are for guitar and banjo player, not mando. Or should I have those?

Ann, @satbus90
You won’t need a capo or banjo mute for Mando class. You are correct that in they’re for guitar & banjo.
If (and I say “if” because I don’t know if the St. Pete Camp will have “jam” time or not) (perhaps someone can chime in here on that if they know…) but if you also play guitar or banjo, and are planning to bring & play either in a jam situation, you may want to bring one…
