Howdy all,
Years ago I installed spikes for my 5th string but I am hoping to purchase a new banjo in the coming year and have been looking at the Shubb 5th string capo. Does anyone have experience with the Shubb setup and wish to share their preference as compared to spikes?

When I bought my Washburn banjo on ebay, the Shubb 5th string capo was already installed. I tried it out and it worked just like it was supposed to, but I just couldn’t get over the look of it. In addition to that, it made it difficult for my small hands to work in the instances where Ben users his thumb to grab some 5th string frets.
I took it off and installed spikes, but now have to find someone to fix the giant holes in the purfling on the neck of my banjo.
Bottom-line: it works great, if it fits your taste
