Hi Steven!

I didn’t see any one specific pattern.
What I did see was him adding backstroke strums here and there as he felt like it.

As you advance more with your rhythm playing you will find different places you might prefer to add up-strums as well.

The “Add Ornaments” lesson shows a touch of this, Also much of what he was doing is included in the “Intermediate Guitar Rhythm” course.

Thank you. I watched the add ornaments video and saw where he added up strums. I wanted to know specifically what he was doing in the first part of the very last video.

For the first minute, it’s pretty much all included somewhere in the PDF/TAB/videos.

The rest is introducing new optional chord choices to the progression.

Do you have something at a particular “timestamp” that you don’t understand?

the only “pattern” I see is

beat one – bass note
beat two = down & up strums
beat 3 = bass note
beat 4 = down strum

That was helpful. I slowed it down and what I saw was what you said except beat 4 is also a down and up strum except at the end of every 4 bars it is only a down strum.
