Other Hobbys question

One of my first hobbies was dirt bikes. Fixing, riding, looking, thinking, coveting… I spent my free time with dirt bikes.

Then someone gave me a guitar, and now music is my main hobby. All the same activities I did with dirt bikes but with musical instruments.
I really enjoy recording.

Also bicycles. I built a mountain bike last year, and I love riding trails. I’m also pretty good at riding wheelies.
I also do parkour, Irish dance, play multiple sports including soccer, tennis, squash, ultimate frisbee, spikeball, volleyball, badminton, etc.

Seventeen years ago, my wife & I bought a campground. I’ve always liked to build things and solve problems that are out of the box and a campground certainly gives me that opportunity. I don’t often have space for time consuming activities like golf and fishing, so I guess I’ve kind of changed -even though I still love to fish. I’ve got 3 boys & a girl, so one “hobby” was following them around while they played baseball, soccer, etc. My youngest is now 16, and he’s not as “hard core” when it comes to sports, so there are fewer games and they are less intense than the travel soccer days. My wife & I love to do things as a family and nothing is sweeter than a mission trip where we all work together. Collectively, we’ve been part of 7 house builds in Guatemala & Mexico. But as my kids get older and I have more time, I am getting back into golf and . . . wait for it . . . my wife & I just bought an RV!

I am somewhat of a homesteader. 5k sq ft garden, additional 1000 q ft of raised beds, put in an orchard, vineyard, 20 hives of honey bees, chickens, rabbits, etc.

I also hand split a lot of wood. I heat with wood 24/7 during the winter months.

Here’s 2 years of wood that I always keep stacked and drying. This is behind our guest house/cabin. You can tell in the pic by the light colored wood/vs the darker how much I hand split this year.

Second pic is how much wood I put up for winter over here at the big house under the lean to off the back of our finished garage.

Outside of playing 100+ rounds of golf every year I shoot a lot.

My son took up shooting Skeet, Trap, and Sporting Clays several years ago. He and I now compete shooting all around the U.S. He shot well enough last year to win “State” (TN) at age 15 in sporting clays and skeet on the scholastic (high school) level.

Yes here in the Nashville TN area we still have high school shooting teams.

I enjoy it. It gets a bit expensive (ammo, guns, tournament entry, etc). My wife shoots also. We go through 45K 12 gauge shotgun shells per year shooting. I think it would be safe to say we spend $30K/year just to feed our competitive shooting hobby.

@ Oldhat2 that’s a lot of split wood that was one of the other things my wife and I did living off grid we would go out and get fire wood for us and also fire wood to sell every year you should invest in a gas powered Log splitter I picked up a 22 ton from tractor supply that handled everything I threw at it saved a lot of work we would go out and gather a 18 ft by8 ft trailer load and haul that back to our property then split it and sell actual cords of wood to people it was another one of the ways we made money and it was a ton of work for just me my wife would help the best she could but that was not much but I appreciated everything she did. probably the most tiring work I ever did

@Hillbilly_picker we cooked all the time on a wood burning stove or the out door grill I built out of the natural stone on our property

Sounds like me in some ways. My buddy has a Polaris Sportsman 1000 Hunter Edition and yesterday we pickeed up a set of new mudders for it. I would love to have a quad like that. Fastest one on the market. If you’re gonna give it full throttle, hang on!! If i had the money, mud running and trail riding with big quads would probable become my numer one hobby.

I grew up a sports fanatic, playing and watching most anything with a ball. As I got older I changed to just distancing running and my keeping up with my daughters’ activities. When my kids got older and my knees had enough running, I made use of Amazon diverse selection and got some juggling clubs. My juggling took a backseat when my wife bought me a mandolin.

I’m a photographer. I’m trained as a professional photographer but I’ve never done it for a living (I like having money). I’ve been quite successful in regional, national and international photo competitions. While I’m gradually getting better at pickin’ banjo and guitar, I’ll probably always be a better photographer than musician.

Let me see where to start… Baseball, Eating, Golf, Hunting, Eating, Fishing, Racing, Skeet, Computers, Eating, Playing the Banjo, Eating. Many more, but I have to fit in the four letter word now and then I guess… WORK. They aren’t in ant particular order. Did I mention, I like to eat as well.

I’m a large format, alt process guy. Mostly ambrotypes, and platinum prints. In fact, I will be offering platinum printing to the general public soon. To diversify my revenue streams.

Juggling = same skill set as pickin’.

Juggling a flaming sword, running chainsaw, wild bobcat, and a rattle snake while flat pickin Blackberry Blossom (in front of a 50K crowd) while riding a unicycle = Skill set required to become a great improvisor/jammer in Bluegrass. No joke.

I’ve been trying to ride the unicycle the past few months as well!

I think if I had a crowd of 5, my heart rate would be about the same as your recommended juggling props

@Timothy_L I’ve never tried a unicycle but I can’t say that I have never looked ordering one in the past…just never pulled the trigger or another use of that money came up. Good luck with that unicycle, it seems like it would be coold to learn how to ride.
