So I have just learned that the Five Guy’s Burger Chain is to open a restaurant near me. What’s the big excitement are they just another McDonalds, Burger King which I never visit ? What so special about this food outlet ?
No NOT Whataburger - Five Guy's
NO!! They are great high quality food and they make some of my favorite burgers.
They’re a lot like a Mooyah food chain if u have any of those around. If not, it is a good place when all u want is a good burger and fries. It’s literally all they have on their menu. And I think a hot dog. The fries are made from fresh cut potatoes and have a Cajun seasoning that’s good, and u can add a bunch of toppings for free like sautéed mushrooms and onions and the regular stuff. It’s a step above fast food and a step below a real restaurant. And they give u free shell on peanuts to eat while u wait. I’m a fan.
…and I’m also realizing just now I know too much about this place and need to get a life
I have only eaten at at Five Guys once…at the Dulles airport in Washington DC.
While I was not famished, I just needed a little bite before my next leg of the journey.
It was the best burger I have ever eaten in my life (except for the ones I burn on the fire.)
They were so good, when a Five Guys opened nearby, I was too scared to go there, fearing I would eat seven burgers in one sitting and then go back the next day for seven more.
“Lead us not into temptation…”
I still haven’t been there, but I savor the memory of how good that burger was on that day, and my wife concurs.
Five guys is great. The one near us gives unlimited peanuts which is nice
Now we are talking quality food. I must speak with the new manager when it opens. Am I right in thinking Timothy your in Georgia ? I just want to catch him/her out when they say we don’t do peanuts.
Yes we are in Georgia. Some locations don’t always have peanuts but there is one that usually always has them. Hopefully yours will
Those replys are all good ones & we also have the peanuts in Alabama.
I love Five Guys!
Well in that case I guess I got to try one. I have to say I am not a big fan of burgers but I do like to try-out new foods.
Ah Five guys! My impression @

So does it really take 5 guys to make one burger?
So I gotta ask what’s the best thing on the menu?
I have checked out a few images and I am worried I may regret saying I do like to try-out new foods.
From what I remember it’s mostly just hamburgers and I think hot dogs too. The little burger is a good size and price and not too small. The bacon cheeseburger is of course great but it’s kinda pricey, at least when multiples of us go. It’s all good!
Get the little bacon cheeseburger, all the way, add jalapeños! The regular burger will be too big, most likely.
I will keep you posted.
And I thought I knew you…
I do like 5 guys burgers. It is good for a chain. I wasn’t a super fan of the fries, but perhaps I hit them on a bad day. Perhaps working against 5 guys where I am is an In N Out about a 5 iron away. If given the choice between a double double animal style with extra crispy fries and 5 guys, I am gonna typically go to in and out.
If anyone is around the DFW area, I think my favorite burger is Grumps. They allow ordering less than medium well and they have a killer jalapeno sourdough bun. Fresh made chips and fries, free peanuts, etc. A great little place. My favorite burger place of all time is longhorn cafe in San Antonio. I think they may have put a little opium or something in the burger, because it sure was addictive. That was over 20 years ago, so I hope they are still there and awesome.
Of course my idea of when a burger is too big may not be mainstream. Here’s one from “slider” night…
Any of you guy’s been to Germany and tried out Curry Wurst and Pomme Frites with mayo now that’s what I call a great takeout. I don’t know what they do to their fries but they taste so good.
