Mancave/mantury

Hi guys, i have just completed the “base” for my long awaited "mancave. it’s gonna be home for all my archery gear, home brew booze, civil war memorabilia, and of course home for “bluegrass pickin”!!!.so, i was wondering if any of you guys have a mancave/music room/huntin lodge etc. i’d love to see any pics. hey Ben, where do you shoot the vid footage? looks like my kind of venue

Ron

Hey Ron,
That’s awesome. Our cave is decidedly less manly than yours, but when we built the house we made a dedicated AV room. We weren’t sure if it was a good idea at the time due to the cost, but we are ecstatic we did it. We use it all the time. We also have decent facilities for picking guitars and turning wrenches (not in the AV room  ), and we use them all the time. Making your home fit what you like to do is a great idea. I think you will love your cave.

My “man cave” is just my own den where I have my computer set up but I do have a “man deck” where I can go to if I really want to annoy my neighbors :sunglasses: Great for those time when you have the gang over for a BBQ

wow jack!! what a “mandeck” and the garden looks idylic. it’s may 15 today, and this morning we had frost and rain/hail all afernoon!!! so i might get chance to dust off my “portable” bbq for perhaps one day in august :unamused: (if i’m lucky).
about 8 yrs ago i bought a house in Bulgaria (don’t ask!!) they have a fantastic summer over there, it just shows you have deserate we brits are for a bit of sunsine.
hey mike, what does AV mean?

ron

Nice manly deck, Jack!
That’s looks like some pretty land. I am getting back to working on my outdoor kitchen. I built a smoker island to start, and I shouldn’t have installed the smoker. The rest of my outdoor kitchen has sat in waiting (maybe five years) while I cooked lots of food in the smoker. I lost count at somewhere north of 200 pounds one year. Anyway, I am back at it, and hopefully this summer we will get 'er done. I have a rotisserie grill, side burners, a sink and various storage things to put in. They have just been sitting around not getting used. Is that a fridge to the left of the sink? I debated getting a fridge, but my indoor kitchen shares a wall with my outdoor kitchen, so I didn’t do it.
Again, nice looking deck. If I ever make it up that way can I sleep on your deck?

Hey Ron,
Sorry for the acronym. AV is an acronym for Audio/Visual. Some people call them home theaters. It’s nice to have a place to watch ball games, movies and such. It is very cave-like in that there are no windows. If you ever need to sleep during the day, that’s the place to go.

awesome “mandeck” jack …looks like a great place for a poker game and some pickin’ with your friends …one day…i can dream i’ll have one of my own …for now its my sons bedroom where this computer is …the place where i sit for hours and pick …need a better setup though …after ahwile in here my neck and shoulders start to ache and i have to give pickin’ a rest for a few minutes …lol …

Ben, are you ready for me to start hitting YouTube again with my recommendations of BanjoBenClark.com?

Luckily, there is a window that opens up to the back yard and I’m a tall guy

:open_mouth: Perhaps the neighbors who live behind you would help chip in for a new house?

Thanks for the nice comments guys. It’s taken me about 3 years to complete all the back yard but we spend a LOT of time back there so it was worth it. The BBQ unit came from Lowe’s, thanks to my beautiful wife, and has the 5 burner BBQ, small refrigerator, sink and on the near side, a griddle w/ burners. I actually had to build this portion of the deck just to accommodate it and the 21 table (donation from the local Indian casino) And just to show that my wife also get’s what she wants too, I built this for her . OK, I wanted it too.

Real nice, Jack. Looks like a great place to play some music! I like your fountain, I bet it looks really cool at night with the solar lights.

I vote that the First Annual Banjo Ben Picker’s Convention be held in Stich’s back yard.

Y’all come on down :stuck_out_tongue: That’s one way to get you to CA.

I’ll bring the beer!

Wow, nice deck Stich! Looks like a nice peaceful place to kick back and relax and, I don’t know, maybe… COOK SOME MEAT!

Thought about building myself a deck but there just isn’t any privacy on this house farm I live on.

No mancave for me yet, I’m just shoehorned into this computer desk.

Haha, Nice man “deck” Stitch.

I have no “man-cave” as of right now, as my mother-in-law is occupying it. Is a 950 sqft finished basement with it’s own restroom and shower, kitchenette and an open floor plan…is nice, tiled floor, crown molding, etc…I could personally live down there but for now our “nanny” has it occupied, which happens to be my MIL!

If anyone wants my MIL let me know and I’ll pay ya to take her!

You should get her to learn an instrument, then you could use the basement to have jams.
