I’ve recently been obsessed with this song, so I decided to try and figure this solo out by ear. It was a fun exercise in ear training, and it’s a fun solo to play!

I have never been able to pull anything like that off on a Stratocaster. But my Tele - I can make it go Steele guitar Ish. Awesome job.
What was your pickup selector switch at?

For the twangy tele solo, I had it on the bridge pickup. In the half beat lull between that and the steel solo,
I flip it to the very middle position, and honestly I have no idea how this guitar is wired, whether that grabs straight middle pickup tone, or a blend of all three, or something else. No clue. I haven’t fallen down the electric guitar nerdiness rabbit hole yet…

On most it’s just the middle pickup.

Thanks! It’s a Squier Affinity. It was given to our family, I don’t actually know by whom. I’m pretty sure it’s just about the cheapest fender guitar you can get.
