Has anyone picked with a 25 cent piece?

I watched my Nephews cousin pick with a quarter one evening and was mesmerized that he could do it so well. never missed a note on black mountain rag . Any one else out there that does that ?

Yep. I don’t get a tone I like very much with it, but it works ok if I don’t have anything else and need a pick.

I wonder if there are a group of quarter-pickers who think the “pre-war” quarters sound soooo much better than the new ones?

I use one occasionally when I’m picking a slow fiddle tune with a lot of quarter notes, in 3/4 time of course!

I actually just tried using a 25 cent piece and the volume dropped scale of one to ten , regular pick equals ten it dropped to a 3 and the tone was almost none existent . maybe my attack I just maybe need to attack it more violently , slam it cram it what ever . a dime might work better lets see now no dimes here so I used a five cent piece cuz I can not spell nickel oh well not much change . MMMMM?? wonder how a soldering iron might sound .
