It’s a large old time and bluegrass fiddlers convention in Galax, VA. Happens once a year in August. They have competitions for all bluegrass instruments and for old time and bluegrass bands.

Yes we are. Each individual contestant plays only one song and each band plays 2, both on separate days.

Too bad you can’t compete! Registration has to be completed by July 15 as I’m sure you know.

Some pics of Galax so far!
The phone reception isn’t good enough to upload videos right now. So far we’ve had tons of fun jamming and competing. The park is packed with campers. The contests start at 6pm every night when the air cools off, and the jams go all night! On Monday, youth night, our little brothers’ band The Brothers Five won 2nd place youth band! Most of the rest of us have already played in each of our categories, and I’m competing in guitar tonight. Bands are tomorrow and Saturday. Awards are announced early Sunday morning. We’ve gotten to jam with @Dragonslayer too. Having a great time here!
