Anyone else got plans to go? I can’t wait!
@Michael_Mark, have you picked your song yet?
Oh how I wish! It’s the real deal!
Aug 8 - 13.
A friend will be there all week. I’m planning on coming up for the day that concludes with the guitar competition.
…
Timothy won’t pick his either
Must be nice, those of you who don’t NEED to practice for so long!
It’s not that we don’t need it… we just don’t do it…
#procrastination
Why do today what can be put off until tomorrow?
I’ve hardly started mine, but really should be working on it a lot more. I hear Libby playing hers and wish mine was as prepared as hers!
@Lucy_L I would not call mine prepared. I just know that I need all this time to polish it so I can’t delay!
Looks like you started replying in Morse Code but your response got cut off after the first letter, “…” was one of the few letters I remembered. This may be a reference that shows my age.
I’m gonna try and compete in old time banjo, but I haven’t even solidly decided that yet
Does anyone know if there are rules against guitar drop tuning at Galax? An arrangement just came into my head with EGDGBE tuning (A string dropped to G).
Don’t take my word for it, but I just perused the rules and found no such prohibition. You can call them to make sure.
I should have remembered to ask the guy when he called me today… he couldn’t make out my writing on the band application
What band are you playing with?
What’s the band - Compound 4?
As far as I know the website doesn’t state any rules about tuning. You’d have to ask…
It’s band with me, Gunnar, Arwen Cockman and Lorien Cockman. We called it “Golden Wood”.
“Yes sir, the name of your bluegrass band, is this… Golden Wool? Wood?”
Fun, we met the Cockmans once in 2017. They were one of the first bluegrass bands we ever saw. It really inspired us. Do you know them well? Any idea if others of the family will be at Galax too? I really like Ben’s playing.
I haven’t met them before; el @Dragonslayer just knows them and recruited them for the band.
