Hey folks… I am preparing to give a four week, one-hour a week, class called Guitar Intensive for some 13-14 year old beginner/intermediate guitarists where I teach at Burnt Hickory Baptist Church. This is happening in June.
Below is from session/week 1. I will be teaching then to find notes on the guitar fretboard. All of them can read basic Tablature, all of then play songs and strum a bit. This will be a new world to them.
These are two pages from my Session book. I would love to get some feedback.
This approach was developed out of my having wrestled with Dyslexia in the past - I would see a fretboard with every fret labeled with a letter, and get overwhelmed. As I have some students in the same boat, I came up with this approach. I have discovered that kids sill move off this diagram really quickly and just do it all in their head, which is my goal.
Love you guys - if this helps anybody… cool. It helps my kids… which is VERY cool.
