I recently have been working on Tony Rice’s crosspicking intro to “Church Street Blues” (man, is it a pick hand workout!), and can play it cleanly up to speed except for the parts where he uses non-alternate (not sure if that’s actually the correct term) crosspicking. Is there a specific picking hand technique, position, etc. that I should use, or should I try to substitute alternate crosspicking technique in those parts? Thanks!

Technically it’s sweep picking, but only two or three strings at a time instead of all of them like most sweep pickers do
