I tried some Elixir Nanowebs on my dobro the last time I restrung, and I’ve started noticing that the coating is flaking off. I’ve tried Elixirs on both guitar and mandolin and haven’t noticed this, so I’m wondering if it has something to do with sliding the bar across the strings. Anyone else notice a flaking problem with Elixirs?

A little, but nothing chronic. I have Elixirs on my mando at this point, and the wound strings are flaking where the pick hits as well as near a few commonly used frets. The strings do have quite a bit of time on them, so I am not complaining.
Yeah, I’ve noticed it flaking Where I pick. I always assumed it was just bits of fibres getting lodged in the winding, but flaking makes more sense. It must just happen after a bit of use.
