Have a Lakota strap and love it. But, major problem fitting it into my case along with the banjo … frustrating.
Wish they’d make a model that could be easily removed.
Finally exchanged it for the high end quality Deering leather strap. A bit pricey but top notch
and problem solved.
Banjo Strap Suggestions?
Will these fit the Deering goodtime?
Right on Archie.
This can’t be done with a Lakota unfortunately.
At least not easily.
Sorry I can’t offer any advice on a Lakota. Ask @Jake at the General Store if he could do a video on how to store the Lakota
They should be able to fit any banjo that has tension hooks/brackets. You can view all the Lakota banjo straps in the General Store here, and here’s a video showing how to attach most kinds of straps:
I had a Lakota non-cradle once and I’m pretty sure it was too wide to store easily alongside the banjo… I probably just had to smush it in there and close the case, haha. It also stretched way out, easily got twisted around and I generally wasn’t a huge fan of it. Maybe the cradle or wider straps are different— I do hear a lot of people like them.
That being said, I am a fan of the Lakota guitar strap— it’s very comfortable and folds easily into my small case compartment!
Seems like if they just made it removable, it could be tucked into the case compartment and the problem would be solved.
IMHO it doesn’t seem like it would take much to make the adjustment to a removable version.
I thought about going to a shoe repair shop and seeing if they could adapt it to be removable.
Meantime, my Deering is working out fine.
Yes, they should, though it may be a tighter fit.
I can objectively say it does not fit. Oh well. I’ll hold onto it for when I eventually upgrade my good time
@BanjoBen I take it back I got it to fit! Took a lot of patients, a steady hand, and a good pair of needle nose pliers, but it fits on. What a nice strap!o
I have 3 Hubers 2, 1 1/4 inch wide and 1, 1 1/2. The 1 1/4 straps start digging into my shoulder after awhile. The 1 1/2 is much more comfortable. I just got a Sully Strap that has a rounded 2 inch wide strap. It is made of a very good, premium leather and has a thick suede lining where it contacts your shoulder. I can’t put into words how comfortable it is. The quality is first class and it’s not much more expensive than a Huber. I’m not knocking the Hubers, they’re nice leather straps but not very good for me for long practices. Also the quality of the leather and workmanship are not even close. There are several different styles to chose from and you can chose any length you like.
Hi @randyyoung29 Randy to @BanjoBen 's Forum. I am sorry to hear the Huber straps do not meet your expectations. I neither own a Huber or one of their straps so I am in no position to offer any suggestions or advice. Not sure if @BanjoBen is available to comment either he has just announce he is enroute to his General Store in Missouri and wont have much time to spend on the forum whist he is out there.
Oh yeah, The Huber’s are most likely stamped from bonded leather in mass in China. Stiff as board and never really soften up except for the ends even after 10 years use. Pat’s are finely handcrafted from American harness leather for around for not a whole lot more. They will be handed down for generations. I’ve recently got another Sully from his Legacy line I think it’s called. It’s made of a hundred + year old harness leather. Mine was beautifully hand tooled originally back then. The shoulder piece started out as a 4” wide piece. Had to have been from a very high brow harness horse collar. Pat scrubs it clean and reconditions it so that’s it’s really supple. He works with you closely to customize your strap for length and attachment type. I have a Lakota that’s a nice strap, I just got tired of keeping it from twisting when I put it over my shoulder. Gotta neotech somewhere that I didn’t use much. Just seemed to bounce all the time. And it feels good to buy from a guy that produces some top quality products by hand, right here in America. That’s why I love my Hatfield so much more than any of the others. So much the more with Arthur’s recent passing.
