Hi Neil, There is a piece of software where you can create a TAB or Open a TAB and it print out a music score. TablEdit. Unfortunately it cant do this from an mp3 or mp4 file
Banjo Players
Since this thread is titled Banjo Players, in the plural, I thought I’d introduce another one. There are so many great ones we all know that could be discussed here and Mean Mary was a new one me and I really enjoyed exploring her music.
I stumbled on this guy on YouTube just recently and I’ve been quite taken with him. Have y’all ever heard of Dave Hum? He was a busker in the UK and he has a unique sound that I really like. He has a couple of pretty good albums (I downloaded them from Amazon Music). A good mix of Bluegrass and Celtic. Here he is playing Nashville Blues.
Here is his YouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCcGxV6qGVoBGFm_wnDodK2A
Here is his website: http://davehum.com/home.html
And I found this article on him in the Banjo Newsletter: https://banjonews.com/2015-01/who_was_dave_hum.html
Hi @Maggie Dave Hum passed away in 2009, He was a very popular folk musician and street entertainer. Dave and his band the Huckleberries also did comedy.
Yep, she’s way cool. I met her and her Brother Frank a few years back in Bodega Bay, Ca. Sat and chatted with them during one of their spectacular performances… True to form, plays barefoot too. Not that that makes her any quicker, lol, idk. it might.
Yeah, I only discovered him a couple months ago and really got into his music and realized just recently he had passed when I read that article in the newsletter. How sad.
I got the chance to try these out at camp. Funny thing is, my thumb didn’t move any speedier. Must’ve been a faulty product…
Yep, that must be it, faulty product. You should get a refund.
Do you give them a or a ?
Yeah, I’d give 'em a
I liked it better than the golden gates I’ve always used, but I also had a very kind fellow picker buy me a blue chip during camp and I love that thing.
I love mine. (JD Crowe model) Blue chip picks are the real-deal.
I’ve using a Blue Chip JD Crowe for about a year and it’s the best I’ve tried. Sure was a great camp!
I purchased a Blue Chip at camp. It fit my thumb perfectly. I didn’t get to try it out until this afternoon. The sound is much better. It is longer than the pick I was using so it will take a few hours of picking to adjust.
Either that, or I wonder if a guy could just sand it down a bit to suit? Mine was a JD Crowe thumbpick which I believe is one of the shorter ones anyway. In my opinion, the blue chip thumbpicks really are a premium pick in terms of quality.
Hopefully that Blue Chip will help you not have to get your kerosene rags out
It was good to meet you at camp, Jeff!
@5stringpreacher My fingers are now tougher ! It was fantastic to meet you. With your inspiration, I am now the 5 stringpilgrim.
I look forward to seeing a Video of your new Signature song “I AM A PILGRIM”
@Deere_Crossing. I’m a little better banjo picker than guitar. The banjo camp slots filled up so I went with guitar. The camp was great.
Mean Mary posted a new one on YouTube today (or yesterday, I only saw it today) it’s called the dark woods
