Anybody killing any deer?

Has anybody been killing any deer this season? Would love to see some pictures!

My Ellie Mae (11 years old) got her a doe so far, will be getting after it next week when I return from Mexico. I got word that Charlie Belle (13 years old) trapped her first (completely solo) coyote this morning…she is over the moon.

@BanjoBen Nice! I have been out of town, so I’ve been off the forum.

Awesome! I seen a 160-inch 11 point the other day. He wouldn’t stop walking in some thick woods. He ended up getting killed a few days later.

@BanjoBen @Harley Well, I killed a real old 6-point last night. Wouldn’t score much, but a mature deer!

I’ve been trying, but haven’t had any success yet this year.

I ended up getting one the day after Christmas! It was my first time using a thermal (my Father in Law’s) and it was awesome!

Ellie Mae got another doe about a 10 days ago. We’ve dry aged it and I processed the quarters this weekend. I salted a sirloin, put on some compound butter and garlic, then in the sous vide overnight at 110 degrees. Then sliced into 1" steaks and seared them in the cast iron with wagyu tallow. I have to stop typing now or I’ll start crying from pure joy in reliving that moment.

@Dragonslayer We have used one twice. They are incredible. A friend shot a big deer this year and we found it 500 yards from where he shot it from.

@Archie Wow! That will really make you want to go hunting :joy::joy:

Capercaillie are highly protected in the UK under Schedule 1 of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981, making it a criminal offence to intentionally or recklessly disturb them, particularly during breeding season (April–August). With fewer than 600 individuals left in Scotland, they are Red-listed due to rapid declines and extreme risk of extinction.
