Thank you so much! I had only been playing a 1 and a 5.
Anybody down for another young picker collaboration?
Both iconic versions.
I figured we can gauge some interest here— some of the folks who were initially involved in the collab are no longer active, so let’s gather our volunteers afresh. No deadline on this yet, just trying to see how much interest we have before we start arranging the song. I’d be happy to handle mixing.

I can either sing lead or tenor, so whatever is needed is fine with me.
I don’t have a mic other than the ones in my phone/laptop, so I probably can’t do it. By the way how would we send them in?
Also, great idea to use the poll @Michael_Mark!
You could still use a phone/laptop mic! You’ll just need headphones and a DAW that will allow you to play the track in your headphones and record at the same time.
Emailing the tracks to me would work fine, or we can set up a shared Google Drive folder that everyone can access and upload to.
Raw would probably be best.
I don’t have any music equipment, but can I just listen on my phone and record with my laptop/vise versa?
Also, when I answered the poll on singing I thought it was multiple choice, so I was going to press Lead as well as Baritone
Definitely, as long as the audio playback from one isn’t picked up by the other’s mic (this is prevented by using headphones). One’s mic may be better than the other and you can experiment both ways. What kind of phone and laptop do you have?
I have a Samsung phone, and a HP laptop, though that might not be helpfull
I don’t know the specifics.
I can probably do a solo, I’ll just have to make one, It’ll take a while. (I missed that on the poll!)
My brother says he may want to do it, but he’s not sure, and wants to see how well he can do it. He plays the fiddle.
I made a solo for the verse part of the song, and before I went and did it I figured I should ask if I’m supposed to make one for the chorus as well?
Traditionally, bluegrass solos are one time through the verse form, so we planned to do that– just stacking additional solos as necessary depending on how many pickers we had.
Here’s the version we were going off of:
I feel like we should automatically vote him in.
I was hoping to draw him out, but no such luck
I’ll play a solo if there’s room for it
Can’t wait to hear this!
Who is going to make the scratch track?
I can try making a scratch track.
Should we make an arrangement now or get a few more people to play?
(We should find a way to tag all the forum members. @allbluegrasspickers)
