Hi Y’All

Im learning an original song, which is not Bluegrass and the song is in D and i’m wandering if its better to play this open with the 5th (A) or to capo and play out of the C position which might open up more G lick
possibilities

For me, it would depend on the song… if it’s a more bluesy/sad feeling song I’d go with D position. If the song is more happy feeling I’d go with C.

Since you say it is not bluegrass, I would say go with the 5th (A) position to add some new position licks. Just a thought, and nothing more.
