I remember when I was a kid, I loved to take things apart and put them back together. Sometimes, I could not get them back together, like when I was trying to see how pulling a string on my sister’s doll made it talk (HINT: it was like a mini record player inside). So I was forever going into our cellar and into my dad’s tool room to get a tool for a current “project”. When I was 7, I went into this rarely used area of the cellar and in November found a pile of wrapped gifts for Christmas. I ran to my mother to tell her what I had found and she exclaimed, “Well, now you know there is no Santa Clause, so no gifts for you!” Of course, there were still gifts, but this song, which had me in it’s grips for years, no longer could direct my intentions.
