My brother-in-law does hard mode. It’s been around for a while—the algorithm probably decided standard mode was too easy for you. 
it just forces you to use all the letters that you’ve guessed correctly. So if you’re searching for one out of three possible last letters, it won’t let you put in a whole new word to eliminate letters. I like the easier mode myself.

I get that option a lot. But I am not interested. I do have friends at church that play and they pick a word for the week and everyone has to use that as their starting word. I’m lucky to solve it as it is. I don’t want it more difficult.

Thanks for the info! I’m in the same camp with you guys…I’d rather not. I rarely try spelling a word without using all the guessed letters (on purpose anyway). Wow, that team using the same starter word sounds like a competitive group!
