XANAX is the best answer 
One day you will hit on it and you will be the only one to get it first try.
I normally use STERN. If I get enough I hits, I’ll take a stab or two to try to get it quickly. If not, I typically do AUDIO (that plus stern covers all the vowels except Y). If I still don’t know much, I’ll eliminate common but untried letters with words like BLIMP, CHAMP, etc.

I try to place the vowels first. My first word is always “AUDIO”. If one of these vowels comes up, I usually use that vowel in a word that then contains an “E”. However, that isn’t set in stone.

I don’t always use the same first word, but probably use STEAL or TABLE the most (used neither today).
