When There's Nothing Good On TV

There’s always this old movie from 2008.

Admittedly, it’s not an action-adventure film, it’s not about bluegrass music, it’s not about a Bluegrass Hall of Fame banjo player and it’s not about 2 hours long.

It left me wondering "What would happen if 200 banjos were left behind? What kind of music would we hear 20 years later?

Hasn’t been anything ~good~ on TV in a long time.

Watched this several months ago when he was promoting a new release and sale of the CD sessions. We dearly loved watching this documentary film. Well worth the time to learn more about how music unites us all, about some places most of us will never travel to see in person, and a little about Bela Fleck.

That’s not true… Barnwood Builders on DIY channel is good… Hmmmmm, can’t think of anything else… Guess you’re right!

I stick to the Black & White shows myself…:slightly_smiling_face:

oh, but my favorite show…“radar” is in color though

Thanks for sharing! It seems like an amazing movie and I hope I will have enough time to watch it soon. Btw, I am very fond of everything that is related to movies and filming. Currently, I am so enthusiastic about some courses I’m going to attend this fall. They’re organized at a film school in Prague, which is my dream school. I can’t wait to learn more about a movie production. Every time when I watch a good movie, it inspires me more and more to follow my dreams and to produce something amazing in the future.

If you want to learn how to make movies, learn from one of the masters - Akira Kurosawa. Check out this short video on how Kurosawa uses movement.

The comparison of “The Seven Samurai” to “The Avengers” (4:14) is a real eye-opener!

THAT is an unexpected conversation… banjo players talking about Kurosawa  Speaking of Kurosawa, I hate to admit it, but I do love The Mandalorian. I am torn because I quit supporting Disney a while ago (and I double down on that from time to time… I am not sure how you further quit supporting when you have already quit supporting) , but The Mandalorian is really well done and it echoes nice elements of early Lucas and how he was influenced by Kurosawa and Sergio Leone.

On the broader topic… yeah, not much good on TV that I have seen in a while, but then again, I don’t have “TV” except during basketball season. Series I have enjoyed include The Mandalorian, Stranger Things, X-Files, Battlestar Gallactica (reboot), Heroes (season 1 was brilliant), Sherlock, Justified, early Walking Dead, the Vikings. My wife enjoys true crime stuff and some of it is interesting. I didn’t sleep well for a while after she watched a series called “Wives with Knives”
