When the banjo player blows your "Live gig" cover

I love this song. I love this music. I’ve literally been listening to Jimmy Fortune my whole life… but this banjo player is clearly not playing what we’re hearing. :grimacing::astonished:

Now that I watched it again, looks like Jimmy blew the cover first.

I have never understood “playing live” to a recording… I guess if you are a boy band doing a bunch of dancing or something, but other than that… I just don’t see the value.

Watch at 2:18. He does a 4th string slide you don’t hear, then a couple of seconds later you hear a 4th string slide you don’t see. Those are the most obvious ones.

Well, I was just listening…not watching so close. Still sounded good to me.

I was just watching this, is that Mike Rogers on the drums there?

Sure looks like him to me! I know he plays drums, and I think he did a quartet album with Jimmy Fortune.

I was second guessing myself because of his hat, i’m used to seeing him playing guitar in a suit with Doyle Lawson and Ricky Skaggs.
