So cool! Rock and Country on a banjo.
Regular G tuning? Since I seem to have pentatonic on the brain this week, Wasn’t her solo in pentatonic? Not sure.
Fun facts about this song/video. The banjo you’re hearing was recorded by the steel/dobro player in Flatts named Travis Toy…he’s a freak player on everything. He doesn’t use traditional bluegrass technique (doesn’t anchor a finger), etc. but he gets it done.
The girl in the video is Ashley Campbell, daughter of Glen Campbell. She could have played as good or better solo on the record than Travis did…she’s incredible.
Katy Lou was contacted about playing the girl in this video, but lost out to Ashley
Travis toy is a monster!
I think it was the Station Inn where I first saw a video of him playing steel with Carl Jackson, Larry Cordell & New Monday When they had Justin Branum setting in. Been a fig fan ever since.
I heard it last week: “Music unites your heart & mind to your soul.”
So Katy Lou missed out on the royalties
The backup sounds like a basic roll pattern played over & over
Ashley is good, but I give a slight edge to her God-Father, Carl Jackson. Talk about a beast… Here are the two of them.
One of my favorites, of a pretty young Carl Jackson…
So doggone good!
Carl Jackson singing Little Mountain Church is one of my go to drive songs. And yes, I get after those high soprano notes.
Unlocking mysteries. Guilty pleasure also watch Curse Of Oak Island on History Channel. There seems to be no end to either.
