Been playing three years as self taught. No doubt I need a lot of help with fundamentals.
What does the Gold Pick membership look like in regards of how it steps the student through the fundamentals and tracking progress and not moving on until the skill has been mastered?
Also, I need discipline in practice and goals.
I am so ready to move beyond my very limited current skills.
What does Gold Pick progress tracking look like
Hi @dflannery Darrell to @BanjoBen 's Forum and your NEW FREE Silver Pick Membership. With your Silver Pick Membership you can unlock and access three full lessons that gives you a unique opportunity to look around without making a commitment which I am sure you already know. No other online platform affords that much access for FREE.
My advice to ALL NEW Gold Pick members is to work through the beginners learning path. Here you will learn ALL the fundamentals you’ll need to progress through the site. You work through the lessons at your own pace. No pressure, you can revisit each lesson as often as you feel the need. Every lesson on this site teaches you something new which adds to your knowledge and skills. If you are prepared to study, practice and devote time YOU WILL make steady progress of that I am sure.
A Gold Pick Membership goes far beyond what you might be used to on other learning platforms. Not only do you have access to lessons with Ben there are also a bunch of Guest Teacher Lessons and many more to come. Most other online teaching resources I have used tend to be boring and don’t inspire you to study therefore it is hard to measure/ see your own progress . Here you’ll have fun whilst learning. This Forum is Family Friendly and you’ll find other students willing and able to share their progress failures and successes where the whole community here offers support and encouragement. You won’t find that on other platforms at least none that I have subscribed to over the years.
@BanjoBen encourages students to post a video of their progress which he will critique and encourage you to set goals.
Ben has his own General Store and Gold Pick Members regularly have access to discounts and free shipping.
I don’t want to list ALL the benefits of a Gold Pick Membership because it kinda spoils the surprises.
So I guess what you are really asking is. Is the Gold Pick Membership Value For Money? As a Life Member of 12 years my answer is YES. This is by far the best online resource to learn Banjo, Mandolin and Guitar.
Once you have had an opportunity to explore the site I do hope you will come and join us.
Thank you Archie! I’m excited to get on board. After three years of self teaching I’m stuck and very bored with my playing.
One would not think that in the Bluegrass state there would be a problem finding a banjo teacher in the central region but it appears to be so.
It’s time to do something different and after a couple of years of creeping Banjo Ben, is time to commit.
Michael, thank you so much for those replies. This helps a lot. It is what I was imagining but now I’m confident in how it’s going to go.
Lord willing, I am definitely going to join Gold Pick this weekend.
I really appreciate the emphasis on hymns and bluegrass gospel songs. That’s what I primarily play and want to learn.
I appreciate the family of pickers within this site.
Welcome to the forum, @dflannery! It’s great to have you here! @Michael_Mark has given a great overview of the site. I have learned about as much from the folks on the forum as I have from the regular lessons. Whether or not you become a Gold Pick member, absolutely utilize the forum!
