I was in Branson, MO, this week, and I really wanted to try to go through Exeter to stop by the General Store on the way home, but we had a stop that we were needing to make in Springfield, so it didn’t work out. But I’ll make it there one of these days!!!
What are y'all up to?
I think I’ll do that for the next banjo lesson in July, thanks!
This is killer Ben!!!
We write music for churches, so we just returned from the SBC convention and a bout of touring in southern Texas and Louisiana. Good to be home. I haven’t been home for more than two weeks all year. Hoping to get three weeks out of this stint. I guess I have a little time to work on my bluegrass chops that are ooooo so rusty.
Just finished learning Jim Pankey’s Country Roads just got to polish and increase playing speed. Starting work on Sean Ray’s Jerusalem Ridge. I think this may be quite a challenge.
I guess I won’t be letting the bluegrass grow under my feet for a while.
Yes Gm. B string tuned down to Bb capo’d up 2 5th string spiked at A. Not sure if that is the Flat 3rd. Music theory goes right over my head. I got the TAB from Sean and there is a video of him playing it through on YouTube which I can slow down for reference. Mostly melodic runs but the fretting seems a bit tricky in parts so it could take me a while to work through it. Started on the intro today and that’s all my brain could handle.
Good luck! Definitely a fun one to play on banjo. I know Ned Luberecki has a version where he doesn’t retune but I think it’s much more straightforward in minor tuning.
Played through You are my Sunshine without looking at the TAB. Slow and sweet. Setting up and fixing to start my journey playing Lap Steel Guitr. “Am I crazy”? Keeps going through my head as I stare at C6 Tuning and 8 strings. Happy Fourth Ya’ll.

Congrats! Awesome!
Just got back from the Swannanoa Gathering mandolin/banjo camp. It was the best week! I’ll post a few videos of the student showcase that we got to be a part of
Same! We had a great time and will be definitely going back next year!
Congrats…
Love Christmas music on a Mando sooo much. With great people and everyone on here with Banjo Ben you can not go wrong.
Luck and all to ya, with a great instrument.

I pastored in the town of Marion for a few years just outside of Swannanoa. I hate that I hadn’t heard of this gathering.
There’s always next year!
I recently got the opportunity to visit McPherson Guitars in Sparta WI and got to play the guitars and see how they make them!
