@Flatpickin_Libby Was Mr. Strings at the Blue Ridge Guitar Camp?

Yes he showed up last night for opening night as a surprise. Think he’s supposed to be here all day today too.

@Flatpickin_Libby I saw Instagram posts from Billy Strings, Jake Eddy, and Marcel (from Lesson with Marcel) saying they got to play a Doc Watson guitar. Did y’all get to check out that guitar?

I think it’s one of Bryan’s guitars now. He let a few of the performers play it on stage but didn’t pass it around to the campers. He would probably let us look at it if we asked though.

Cool…y’all enjoy that camp!

I don’t think Bryan owns it. But yes it’s here. The guitar Doc played on the Will the Circle Be Unbroken album

He’s come such a long way, I’m so proud. I said, “Billy, stick to that learning track!” Now look.

Today was amazing … we sat in a small group class (8 campers; they have us divided into little groups by level) for an hour and a half each with Bryan, Chris Eldridge, and Courtney Hartman. Billy hung out in our class all day, and I just finished picking a few tunes with him! :star_struck: We swapped guitars because he wanted to play mine! He’s gone now; flying out to Texas tonight for a show tomorrow!

Our local old time music festival today. These folks were killing it! I even got to pick a few with them. I was wearing my Banjo Ben hat one of the guys saw it, asked me if I played, and handed me his banjo.

That’s cool! What song(s) did you end up picking with them??

Cripple creek was one. The others I don’t remember the names of they were old folk fiddle tunes. Should have written them down. I found out we know some of the same folks. I will probably hear the tunes again eventually.

What an honor. Nice dual solos. So, was there a reason for playing in A? (capo 2 with a G root chord). Is A the original key for the song? Is it easier to solo playing up two frets? Just curious.
