What are y'all up to?

I saw that show at the Lucas Theater in Savannah in March of this year. All the same lineup except it was Stuart Duncan on fiddle. You’ll be blown away! It was the most incredible display of complex musicianship I’ve seen.

And it wasn’t Kentucky Thunder??? :scream_cat: :scream_cat: :scream_cat:

It blows me away just watching videos, I can’t imagine seeing it live.

No, Kentucky Thunder isn’t the most complex musicianship I’ve seen - just the most classic, fast, perfect, and mind blowing.

Still working on playing in the Key of D - Standard G tuning 5th string spiked at A.

My wife and I are going to see Bela this Friday in Salt Lake City. Looks like a different guitarist and fiddle player. Looking forward to it!

@shad I would definitely enjoy that lineup. Just really became familiar with Billy Contreras after started with Rick Skaggs.

Didn’t know that Billy Contreras is the fiddler for Kentucky Thunder. Very cool!

May have a new challenge on the horizon. Playing in the Key of E. Standard G tuning 5th String tuned down to E

Just received this week’s TAB from Josh at Brainjo ‘Dirty Old Town in the Key of E’ a folk classic written by British songwriter Ewan MacColl

Not a breakneck bluegrass tune, it’s more a kinda lazy laid back, an example of how great the banjo sounds when played slow and easy,

Sounds like a cool challenge @Archie ! Very interested to hear how that comes out for this song, plz keep us updated us on that! Seems like I’ve been doing more stuff in E lately…

Here’s my brother Ben’s newest “homemade” song.
Jesus’ Love Is Real!
Hopefully it will be a blessing to somebody!

Great song! Do y’all write a lot of originals?

Funny question probably… But - why don’t you move the pulpit to the side of the stage? We do when we play churches, and that’s one thing that always kinda bugs me from videos of bands playing in churches. It blocks my view of the pickers’ fingers! Of course this video is good because it’s a side view.

My siblings do!
I haven’t had the privilege of writing anything more than tunes so far haha
Sometimes we do move the pulpit. That was a Sunday morning and my dad was about to preach behind it😂

@CalebEllis I think you guys play more special music for churches rather than like full dedicated shows right?

I saw a vid of y’all picking at the camp meeting, that was great. Hope you guys are having a great time and praying for God’s blessing on the efforts.
I’m not sure whether to tell you to say hi to the people from my church or vice versa :joy:

Yes. We do a few shows every year and a couple Bg festivals but mostly churches.
Yeah saw them last night😂
I remembered Caleb W from jamming at your church and AJ from missions camp in Alabama lol

Hi @Simone This is the goal, alas I can’t sing and play at the same time.

I’m working on that (trying to sing + play!)
I think @BanJoe is as well, & probably several others… so you’re not alone in that scary world!:grin:

I have a simple solution, I just stay out of that scary world by never singing with or without an instrument… :joy:
