Gremlins!

Well we have a daughter getting married this Saturday. Hopefully we can make it through. I guess I should make it since my other daughter just got married this past March. I case anyone wants more to do that you need, just have 2 weddings 10 months apart. Thankfully my wife is a really good monther of the bride and has done most of the planning. My biggest role is to make sure I don’t trip walking down the aisle. We may sleep through Sunday when we are done with the reception.

Hey! If you’re in the Atlanta area this Sunday you should come join my sisters and me at First Baptist Church, Conyers! We’ll be playing bluegrass gospel for the morning worship hour. Then that evening at 5:30 we have a men’s BBQ where Dennis Parker and I will be pickin’ and such. https://firstconyers.com/calendar

Well we made it through the wedding weekend and ever turned out the way my daughter wanted it (I assumed it did because she had a great time). I even got New Grass Revival playing “Good Woman’s Love” mixed into the reception dance music for my wife and I to have a dance. Looking back now I think I might have had the DJ have the final song be another Bill Monroe original “I Ain’t Broke But Brother I’m Badly Bent!”

I am so excited about this weekend. We driving over to Meridian, MS in the morning to see a concert: Sam Bush, Mike Marshall, Edgar Meyer, and George Meyer (did I mention Sam Bush too  ) . I got the tickets back in July and have been counting the days since. Sad thing is I’ve avoid being around people as much as possible with this virus just so I can make it to this show. Looks like they are doing an all instrumental show with a mixture of bluegrass, classical, Brazilian, and probably some Genre-defying stuff.

Just started working on @BanjoBen 's advanced melodic lesson June Apple in the key of A without a capo. Also trying to learn some beginner clawhammer banjo with Lynn Morris - Murphy Method DVD. Still having finger issues with the frailing strum so I have ordered a couple of frailing picks from Cling Pro Picks in Canada as recommended by Tom Collins to see if that helps.

Spending time with my grandson. We have been playing with LEGOs. Now we’re watching Toy Story 4 and eating popcorn. Next we make s’mores by the wood stove.

Still at the Duplo ( Lego ) stage with my youngest Grandson but have been enjoying his company. Took some time out as I think lockdown impacted on my mental health more than I care to think about and got involved in far too many online moments that not entirely proud of including the letter that Ben received some time back. Couple of extended family losses to the illness sadly only folks that last saw me in short trousers.

Think I caught myself in time! But let me know! And gonna really open up here my PTSD comes from Military Service - Not looking for sympathy but if any of your own veterans open up with that it is a daily battle ! Buy them a coffee or something !

Musically went away and did other genres including some time with Marty Schwartz . Don’t like the guys hats LOL and everything seems " right off the bat" . But a lifetime offer hit my Inbox at a hugely reduced rate it was rude not to.

So what has that done for my playing well a lot and was back in last week with Bluegrass and much if not all muscle memory was there but boy do I wish I could singalong such a shame you could hear my dulcet tones -Yeh right.

Starting to get back to normal life after covid restrictions - out to a local restaurant for a meal with my eldest daughter to celebrate the sale of one of her properties which had become vacant during the pandemic and needed a serious amount of work to be brought up to standard to go on the market.

I just saw Ronnie McCoury play a mandolin solo at the Grand Ole Opry and I screamed “YES!” As it was ending and it made the 2 women in front of me jump…I told them to blame @Lucy_L for making me scream.

I’ve never seen Ronnie McCoury live but I hope to someday! Anyway… just curious why I made you scream? I’m sure it was an incredible show and I would’ve been myself so maybe that’s why!
