The blessings of being a daddy…Gotta love it.

We really should all chip in and get that girl some new breeches. It’s a shame @Mark_Rocka spends all his money on banjo stuff, and won’t even mend the holes in that poor girls pants.

@Simone I just ran into Billy Failings near the theater but he was on the phone so I just waved at him.

They are all Daddy’s girls when they want somethin Mark. Even when they become adults and have their own broods. By the way all 4 of my granddaughters have jeans just like that.

What’s not to love? Half the jeans at twice the price. :rage:

Today at The Back of Beyond -

Had me a nice 45HP Kubota tractor delivered this morn. Couldn’t wait to use it so I got it all muddy playing around moving stuff (fill dirt) in the mud and the muck.

We’re doing this “self-sustaining” lifestyle thing, been at it for about 7 years. We were going to put in 2 steers and a hog or two, all for us and 2 of my closest neighbors. Last week when I was getting close to starting the task of putting in all the infrastructure (fencing, barn, etc) and coming up with a plan, momma and I sat down, had a chat, and we decided against it. She wants to “travel the world” when the kids are out of the house (3-4 yrs) and that idea doesn’t work real well with raising large livestock. So the decision was made to abandon that idea. If I ever need meat I can simply harvest one of the 10-20 deer that feed in my yard almost every day (I do already but back in the woods, Turkeys too…our thanksgiving turkey was harvested by me with bow and arrow).

New decision? Oh yeah, I’m getting me a band saw mill and I am getting back into honey bees. We’ve decided to find a Bee Keeper that wants to get out of bee keeping and to try and buy them out. We’d like 15-30 hives to start and someday work up to 200-300 hives. We’d like to find some one with all the gear (Honey processing equip) to go with the bees. Don’t know if any of you keep bees but around the Nashville area a strong established hive is easily $400-$500. The honey one produces is worth more/yr.

The mill - Our home, guest house, critter shelters, raised beds, shed, etc are all cedar sided. She wants to me build a cedar-framed greenhouse, a cedar post carport, and a cabin for us about 1/2 mile back in the woods on our property where we will move to and live out our twilight years. I have enough (estimated at 900 tons) mature 100 yr old cedar to select cut a few here and there and really never miss any. So it will all come from our property.

Bees and a mill beat cattle and hogs any day of the week! I’m a happy camper! Also going to order me a backhoe for my new tractor.

If that brand don’t quinch your thirst then try this place out:

Clifton Mill

Before moving to TN from Ohio I lived within about 5 miles of this mill. Beautiful place. They’ve commercialized it by the Christmas light display (It’s something else!) and putting in a restaurant, but they do still use the mill for flour making.

Just thought you may like another option.

Thanks Jesse!

I can always use another place to try out.

There si a huge range of difference in how different batters make up, act on a griddle, and the consistency and taste. they have.

I’m gonna be ordering a couple “toys” for my guitars:

They’re mostly for church, when I need a lot of dynamics and need to switch guitars.

In 1986 I flew my Citabria Airplane to Jackson, Kentucky to visit who became my wife Linda who was working at the KMBI College there. I remember landing at Chillicothe (Ross Airport?), but I was far enough south that this Michigan boy could detect a southern accent. Another thing I remember on that stop, there was a guy in the small terminal there, that had a dog that was half fox. Had a bushy tail and everything and cute. Never did make it into town. Just watched it slip under my wings as my little airplane lumbered southwards into the hills of Kentucky. Memories.

Well we’ve been in Cape town about a week, and our car has been apart for repairs about that long, so we’ve been walking (mostly my dad) biking (mostly me) and taking the bus (everyone) to get around.
Kanon flew in a couple days ago, so we’re spending plenty of time with him too.

Yesterday I was riding around on one of the bikes we borrowed, and I was crossing a road rather diagonally for various reasons, so more or less riding on the road, but crossing, and I almost passed the entrance to the sidewalk, which I only saw at the last minute. So I grabbed the back brake, (not the front lest I endo) and the tire just lost traction and I slid out sideways and my left knee got well acquainted with about a meter of Cape towns smoothest road… like seriously, the road was very smooth which is why the tire slid, and it took a surprisingly small amount of skin off my knee…
And the worst part was that someone was watching me :man_facepalming::flushed::roll_eyes: so I rode on to my destination slightly sore and quite embarrassed :joy::joy:
