Time for a new mando

Alrighty folks, it’s time for a new mando! I currently play “The Loar 590.” It’s great! Just want to upgrade my sound.

My price range will be around the 3k mark.

What do you recommend?

Eastman 815? Kentucky? Keep saving for a Northfield? Ratliff mandos I know are right around the 3k mark and they’re handmade in the US.

I tried the loar 700 and wasn’t too impressed compared to the 590. I currently do gig on my 590. So it’s been put through it’s paces.

A nice pickup pre-installed would be cool. Not necessary.

Cheers!

You need to look for a used Northfield, in my opinion. Or save up another $500 and buy a new one. If we know you’re looking for one we’ll let you know when we have a special one come through the shop. They’re all great, don’t get me wrong, but some are just boomers from the start.

And if you buy from me we can work out a deal on a K&K mando pickup installation.

I have a K&K twin in a mando. If you put an impedance matched DI with it, it is great (around 1 meg ohm and it can be a cheapie). If you put a toneDexter with it, it is the best I have heard/played.

You might find a used Collings MT2 in that price range.
