The feel from the 7th fret up

As I explore up the neck, naturally the string length shortens from my finger to the bridge. Thus the shorter string is tighter and it really affects my feel of the pick on the string as well as the tone and volume. Is this just a matter of practice or does anyone change up their approach / form as the go up the neck?

If you watch experienced banjo players you will see they often move the right hand further from the bridge when playing higher up the neck.

This can help keep some of the tone & sustain in the notes.

Good point.

Yeah I think at I may make that same move on mando in micro levels, but not something I think about. I believe it’s something you’ll get used to, and will vary from one mando to another.

Exactly Ben!
I think I do it on all instruments very slightly.
I used banjo players as an example because it is far more noticeable among them to me, and it’s the first place I ever actually spotted this happening.
