The difference between 2 types of banjo heads?

Howdy all!!!

I’m thinking on purchasing a new drum head for my claw hammer banjo, and I’m trying figure out what’s the difference between a renaissance banjo head VS, fyberskin head?

Can any of Ya’ll help?

I haven’t tried the renaissance but it’s my understanding that it’s more of a mellow old time sound. You can see some discussion here: https://www.banjohangout.org/archive/293479

I had a fyberskin head on my Fender FB 58 Resonator Banjo and it had the effect of giving a deeper mellow tone than the frosted top – smooth bottom standard head.

I have a Goat Skin Vellum on one of my Tenor Banjo’s and that really pops.
