Oh okā¦ Sounds like then to make you buy the full version as file creator, they discourage you sharing demo files . Iām planning on getting it though, not sure how soon.
The Day Death Died
Yes and Yes
Thanks @Archie,
Do you think it will work with another Demo version? I was saving to to share with @Grace and @Michael_Mark but I donāt know if they have the full versions or not?
By the way @Archie, you may hear that diminished chord change in this oneā¦ where the C chord to to C#. This song was the reason why I was asking about the notation/designation for this passage.
Hi Will, The proof of the pudding is in the eating. @Grace and @Michael_Mark are the ones that need to try it.
Diminished chord ??? I wasnāt really listening, sorry I am just too busy trying to learn the banjo Will. Sorry Bro, I need to get some studying done. You know what I am sayin.
With all the efforts you provide to us here on the Forum @Archieā¦ Along with posting cool and rare videos, practicing and your steady progress on the Banjo, there couldnāt be much time forā¦ Studying.
By the way, you ripped right through your contest submission like it didnāt take a second thought - or a second take , for that matter! Very well done indeed - even BRILLIANT!
Thatās ok, Bill. As I was more of a passive participant in this.
@Grace and @Michael_Mark,
Realizing this .TEF might not work (if you use demo version too), I tried to just record it as it played.
Please excuse the poor quality and goofy melody sound. Ohā¦ and I had the bass turned up but it doesnāt come through so well on this little phone mic. Too bad because I rather like it.
I tried to use the rhythm pattern you were strumming in the demos, @Grace. I have a second alternate guitar which is more of a straight āBoom, Chick-a, Boom, Chick-aā patternā¦ Like ā1, 2 and 3, 4 andā train rhythm.
Finally, even tough it was less than 16 measures (Demo Mode limit), the program kept erasing my written ending (Caboose)ā¦ so in the interest of time after many attempts to re-write a 2 bar ending, I just gave up in frustration and ended it.
Hi @Grace,
Hope you and your family are well.
Did you find this helpful at all for the timing and/or the melody?
I know it is a bit different than what you sang.
Any thoughts or ideas?
Yes, I think it does help me with the timing, sounds good! ideasā¦ not really sure where to go next.
@Grace,
I have an idea. What if you turn off all the modules except the bass and then try to play the guitar part?
Did you take a look at the guitar tab?
Also, if you donāt like the revised Melody that goes up high, you can always sing it in your own way. Even alternating the melody wouldnāt be a bad idea.
Iām not sure how you feel about the tempo.
My thought is that if you were able to lay down the guitar part with your voice and send it back to me, I might be able to leave the mandolin on top of it.
By the way, this was to enable all three verses to be sung but I can extend it with more repeats if that is necessary.
I might try playing the guitar with just the bass. Iāll try to work on it more tomorrow.
Sorry I havenāt gotton back to you quickly, we have been busy trying to finish up the school year.
It seems a little fast, but I donāt mind.
I totally understand about your school as I see my son working each day also. Please do take care of your schoolwork. This is most important.
If you wish, you can easily adjust the speed by going under the Metronome setting.
So, I also invite to look at the guitar Tab module - even if it is turned off, you can use it to read as you play.
If you have any questions at all, please let me know, ok?
Yes sir, thanks!
You are always so polite with me. Your parents have done a wonderful job raisinā ya! Please share I said so with them because as the parent of a teenager, we parents appreciate to hear this type of positive feedback about our kids. It is music to our ears and is the very best kind of compliment to hear.
Several thoughts cross my mind:
- I feel like this song is very nice and I am proud to have worked on itā¦ but it was that phrase you wrote that inspired meā¦ and your first demo created the basis for the songās melodyā¦ not to mention your inspring voice. As so, I feel like it is as much your song as anyoneās!
I totally understand about your schoolwork - of course. Plus, other time commitments too. Please know Iād like to continue to develop this with youā¦ but not make you feel pressured about it!
In this light, feel free to be open about your feelingsā¦ if you want to (or not) work further. I will understand regardless and just am happy to have been a part of this. It is important to me that - in my enthusiasm for the song - I donāt push you in any way, OK?
- If you want to work further, please use the file in any way you want. If it is too fast, slow it downā¦ even if you want to slow it way down. If you want to modify the melody line (take out the upper part of the verse to repeat the lower part) please do.
I feel like we are still experimentingā¦ but it just takes a little longer in this format, thatās all.
- Since you lend your nice voice, I think the song should be built around that principally - as the song should be sung comfortablyā¦ the vocalist leading the songās framework with the music to fit around it.
A band I like very much expressed thisā¦ as the lyricist was not the vocalist. They agreed that the vocalist must āfeel rightā about how the song should be sung - or it wouldnāt be as effectiveā¦ and I agree with this.
- I am not sure about working through this site for ongoing deveopment of the song. I mean, I am fine with it but maybe other Forum members donāt care about such details?
In this light, I offer to send you my email - should you prefer to work that way. You let me know and I can email to you separately, IF that is your preference. If you want to keep working here -GREATā¦ I am happy to do that tooā¦ so I leave that to you.
- Modules:
Do you know how to turn Modules on and off? There are numbers in the upper right part of the TablEdit numbered 1-5. above the number is a thin colored bar that can be clicked to toggle between on and off. Clicking the number itself will take you to that instrumentās TAB.
The Guitar TAB that was on in the file shared (Module 5) was my attempt to duplicate the strum pattern I heard you play in your demos. Iām not sure it is perfect but my best attempt to write it.
A second rhythm Guitar Tab was written in Module 2. Obviously, it is in the same chord structure but just has another rhythmā¦ used just to hear contrast. Feel free to check it out.
I may bring working on a Banjo part at some point soon .
Well, enough for now. Let me know your thoughts when you have a moment and let me know if email is better for you.
God Bless you and your family @Grace. Be well.
Thank you, Iāll tell them
Yes, I guess trying to work this all out on the site isnāt easy, but I think Iād rather talk though the site.
I was able to turn off the modules like you said, but just havenāt had a whole lot of time to figure out the rest.
What I am wondering though, is there something specific you want me to work on that would help? Iām really not sure how I can help now. Where do we go now? Weāve gotten a melody and words, and now youāve even written it all out! So whats the end goal, I guess is what Iām asking
Hope your doing well too Mr. Coop
I donāt know the best way to pull this off but I wish we could make a recording with the music being played by actual instruments to replace the silly ones on the MIDI and have you sing all 3 verses complete.
Plus, I dislike that I could add a caboose on the end - even as the file was like 12 barsā¦ and the limit with free demos was said to be 16. I tried and tried to add at least 2 bars to repeat the end and take it to a high G for the end but the software just would save it. It kept cutting off the bars 13-14 and so I just flat gave up.
I will buy the program one day probably.
As to a good way to translate what we have to replacing with real instruments and decent soundā¦ I am also lost.
Same. I donāt have many musical friends near me, perhaps you have people you know that could sing it and play with you?
Perhapsā¦ @Grace
Thank you for all youāve done. I appreciate it more than words can express.
Yes sir, glad I could help.
