I clipped together all of the times the Darlings told Andy a song made them cry.
Everytime they came on the show, this joke got used. (I don’t count color episodes.)

I had no idea that there were several original Dillards songs that were played when I saw these episodes years ago. It amazing what you learn as time goes by.

I heard a great story from Mitch Jayne (mando picker in Darlings/Dillards) by way of Jake, who was friends with him.
The band was driving in a car in Beverly Hills. They were there to tape their first appearance with Andy. Up beside them at a stoplight pulls a big white limo with Tennessee plates. The band rolled their windows down and were gawking at who it might be behind the tint.
A few seconds later the rear limo window rolled down and the man inside waved at the gawking Dillards. One guy in the car then says, “Awww heck, it’s just Elvis! I thought it might be Roy Acuff!”
