My callouses get so “ridged” sometimes that I can’t take my finger off the strings without making them sound. Is there a solution?
Stupid question about callouses
Hi @todd2 I use an emery board to remove the rough skin. Don’t press hard on the strings as create a rut.
I used an emory board. I even keep one in my case.
I was embarrassed to admit it, because is sounds so silly. “Oh yes, I do my fingers regularly with an emory board. I got it from my wife.”
Now I discover every body’s doing it!
It must be tried-and-true advice.
Playing a stringed instrument also increases the odds of getting a chiped or split nail, and that emory board is pretty effective for damage control on that front too. (Another bit of tried and true wife advice)
This sounds like a potential marketing opportunity for the @BanjoBen General Store…maybe market he-man banjo-shaped emory boards with the General Store logo! @Jake
(Perfect stocking stuffer for your wife, even if she doesn’t play guitar!)
“Can I get one in camo?”
Emory board working perfectly! It’s literally one of those things that makes you think, “Why didn’t I think of that earlier?!?”
Thanks, all!
