I have been playing guitar for around 10 years. I started when I was 15 and never got seriously into it until the last year and a half to 2 years. I have started with the beginner guitar checklist and I am struggling with holding the pick the way that Ben recommends in that particular lesson with the thumb and index fingers pointed in the opposite direction. It feels extremely uncomfortable for me and my playing goes downhill big time when I try to do it. Is this normal? What can i do to fix it/make it easier?

You don’t have to have them exactly opposite, but I’m trying to make sure folks don’t pick up the pick like they would a dirty q-tip An “X” pattern is great, or close to that. That make sense?
