Strings to Liven up your banjo

Hey Ya’ll, does anyone have any tips for which strings to use to give your banjo a little more snap and volume? i have a cheaper Washburn banjo that seems to be pretty dull but i used to have some strings on there that gave good snap and volume. the only problem is i can’t remember what they were :smirk::upside_down_face:

LIght gauge are usually the best choice in my opinion, the sound is brighter and they are easier to bend too. GHS are cheap and do the trick just fine for me.

I agree with Frank. Lighter is brighter. Happy picking!

Thanks guys. Does anyone know the difference between the JD Crowe stage light and the JD Crowe Studio Light?

I believe the stages are half a gauge thicker on the 1st and 5th strings than the studios.

I’m coming out with my own signature string set in a few weeks, I think you’ll love them…it’s what you’re looking for!
