Hello friends, just wanted to share some news about my little world, and request prayers for my mom (Martha Barrett) from those who are so inclined. Theodore “Ted” Barrett passed away in his sleep some time before 3am at their home in Ellijay,GA on December 26th. He will be greatly missed. He fought stage 4 colon cancer and made it for 5 years! Much of that time he continued to live a full life and he and my mother continued to travel on occasion in their motor home. Because of her memory issues she can’t live on her own, so she will need to come live with us in Greensboro, NC…lots of adjustments ahead!
Stepfather of Mark Cory passed away
So sorry to hear that, will be praying for you and your family.
Did you ever see the movie “Little Big Man” starring Dustin Hoffman? Over the course of his lifespan he goes through many periods, from being an Injun to drunkard to gunfighter to storekeeper to Army scout, with a few more roles tossed in as well.
There’s a lot of truth to that in life. And to Ecclesiastes, “For everything there is a season.”
Your life has entered a challenging new phase. Savor the good times and remember “This too shall pass” during the bad times.
And don’t neglect your banjo practice! It will please your mother.
Sorry to hear that, @xmark. The hope is, “Come unto me… For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” Matt 11:28-30
Sorry for your loss @xmark My prayers are certainly with you and your family!! I sometimes think about what it will be like when I permanently move in with my Father. My anxiety is not my passing, but the earthly sorrow my wife, kids and relatives may encounter. I sit and think… why is the passing of a Christian not celebrated, like the birth of a child, or any other fabulous occasion that we celebrate on earth, that can’t hold a candle to what our loved one will be experiencing.
Thoughts and prayers for you and your family Mark.
@xmark I just prayed for you and your mom. “Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.”
Matthew 6:34 KJV
We will pray for your mom as she deals with her new life and also for your household.
God bless you for taking care of your mom.
Prayers for strength for you and your family.
Praying for you and your mom!
John 14:18 KJV - I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.
Thank you to all of you!
@Grinnin, I’ve wondered the same thing…and was reminded of it again with his passing as well!
@BanJoe, I did see that movie a long time ago, but haven’t thought about it in quite some time. It was unusual in a number of ways, and appropriate for making your point. I suppose one could say life is like a box of chocolates…
Praying for your mom and your family, @xmark! I’m thankful she has a loving place and folks to welcome her.
