Specific song help

Howdy folks! I heard this awesome song called “King of Eternity”by the Altar Music. I’ve got a good bit of the song figured out but at the bridge where the banjo player starts playing a pretty fast picking pattern, that really sounds awesome to build on! Any help to figure out this picking pattern would be most appreciated! Loving seeing the worship songs in the forum! The section I’m looking for help on is at the 3-3:21 min mark!

There is a lot going on instrumentally during the song so no worries if it’s too difficult to pick out the banjo part!

Hi @griflippencott Grif welcome to @BanjoBen 's Forum. I have listened to the recording and I struggle to hear the banjo with so much going on. The best I can make out is that the banjo player is playing forward rolls over the chord progression. Maybe someone else will chip in with their thoughts.

I’m at work right now so can’t dig in to it, but I can offer a suggestion. If you want to improve your odds of Ben giving advice on it, let us know the time stamp on the video where the banjo is. And if you do that, edit your original post rather than replying below that way when Ben sees it, he’ll know exactly what to do on the first read.

7 minutes is a long time to hunt for something and still not be sure you got the right place.

Great players! I don’t have a banjo in my hands right now, but just a couple things for you to think about. Sounds to me like he’s tuned in standard tuning with the 5th string spiked at the 7th fret to make it an A note. Also, when it shows the banjo closeup, it’s not synced with what he’s playing at that moment…just FYI.

He’s doing several different roll patterns through that chord progression, but one he’s doing is tabbed here (or close to it). This is what I’m hearing in my hotel room laptop speaker for these two chords (which aren’t adjacent in the actual song):

Good afternoon all.

This is one of my favorite worship bands. Their website has downloadable charts with the Nashville number system. Once upon a time, the site had a downloadable file for this song (and others).

I’m sure of the legality (or ethics) on sharing here, but I downloaded them when they were available on the site.
