Songs I've written

Hi Gang,
The only thing more amateurish than my picking is my song writing. But, I thought I’d share some here any way.

This one would be a straight forward bluegrass song.

Take me back to ‘ol Missouri
Copyright 2019 Keith Brown

G
I have seen the haggard struggles
C
I have felt the chilling strife
Am
That a body has to face each day
D
they travel through this life.

        G

And I awake each day to wonder
C
why my feet just have to roam
Am D
and they take me only farther from
G
my dear old home sweet home.

Chorus

G
Take me back to ‘ol Missouri
C
where the crystal waters flow
Am
through those Ozark mountain valley’s
D
as a boy I used to know.
G
Take me back to where my Daddy
C
taught me how to be a man
Am D
And my Momma gave the kind of love
G
that only Momma’s can.

Solo Break

G C Am D

G
I have traveled down dark rivers
C
and the rails where I have stowed.
Am
I have been that lonesome stranger
D
you have seen upon the road.

            G

Still my home was always with me
C
in my heart and in my head
Am
Take me back to old Missouri
D G
take me back there when I’m dead.

Chorus

Take me back to ‘ol Missouri
where the crystal waters flow
through those Ozark mountain valley’s
as a boy I used to know.

Take me back to where my Daddy
taught me how to be a man
And my Momma gave the kind of love
that only Momma’s can.

Solo Break

Ending

Take me back to ‘ol Missouri
if you’re gonna lay me low
Take me back to old Missouri
where the crystal waters flow.

Lay me down in peaceful slumber
for to rest my weary head.
Take me back to ‘ol Missouri
Take me back there when I’m dead.

Nice! Hard to hear it without the melody, but you have a solid foundation, for sure.

I don’t know what melody you’d use, but it sounded good singing it in my head
